Internautica 2008

The International Boat Show, Internautica 2008 officially opened its doors yesterday in the sunny weather along the coast of Portorož for the 13th time. The Honorary Chairman, dr. Danilo Türk, the President of the Republic of Slovenia officially opened the event by cutting the traditional ribbon with the second Honorary Chairman, the Mayor of the Municipality of Piran, dr. Tomaž Gantar. Dr. Danilo Türk, the President, stated few words on the potential of Slovenia as a maritime country, and the ecological issues we must pay attention to today. Dr. Tomaž Gantar, the Mayor delivered a speech on the treasures of the Slovenian sea and the coastal towns. Dr. Marko Pavliha, Deputy of the National Assembly of Slovenia and as Ambassador of the Green Paper for the European Commision on Maritime Policy to the EU emphasised on the endeavours Slovenia is taking on in order to make the Slovenian maritime culture, business, tradition and environment optimal. After the opening all the formal guests and speakers were treated to a tour of the exhibition grounds and vessels.
